Concerts on the lawn at the Arboretum are a great way to spend an evening. Enjoy the beautiful lawn hillside setting, overlooking the lake, bring your own food and drinks (alcohol is permitted), or purchase it all right there.

Relax, have a picnic and when the Gumbo Kings crank up, get up, dance and swing your beads! Tickets may be purchased online here or at the Arboretum ticket booth. $16 /adults, $7 /children 3-12, and $6 for members of the Arboretum and their children.

Tickets often sell out quickly, so be sure to purchase your tickets early. And if you purchase an Arboretum member pass, tickets are half price and parking is free! Where else could you hear live music in such as beautiful setting for only $8 each!

Shake your tailfeathers to Ray Jimenez & the Bail Jumpers playing blues, swing and soul, from the 1950’s, 60’s and 70’s and then cool off with ice cold watermelon slices in Historic Downtown Grapevine.

You can venture out Friday Night, at around Midnight to one of the local bookstores staying open late (or early), to pick up a copy of JK Rowling’s final book in the Potter series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. By Saturday, like it or not, we’ll probably all know who dies in the final installment.

National Night Out will be held on Tuesday, August 7 from 7 – 10 p.m. in neighborhoods throughout Flower Mound as a stance against crime and a chance to give neighborhood crime and drugs a going away party.

Neighborhoods that organize National Night Out Block Parties will be eligible to compete for the annual Flower Mound Neighborhood of the Year award. The winning neighborhood will receive a street sign proclaiming the neighborhood as the 2007 National Night Out Neighborhood of the Year. Registered block parties could receive visits from members of the Town Council, the Flower Mound Police Department, Fire Trucks, the Fire Department Clowns, and McGruff the Crime Dog. Street barricades will also be provided upon request.

FMPD to Host National Night Out Open House

To kick off National Night Out, the Flower Mound Police Department will host an Open House at the Police Department, 4150 Kirkpatrick Lane, from 5:30 to 7 p.m on Tuesday, August 7. All residents are invited to attend the event, which will include displays of police and fire vehicles, including boats and wave runners, a SWAT display, the K-9 unit, McGruff the Crime Dog, crime prevention information, the Fire Department Clowns, and child identification services. FAMILY CONCERT IN THE PARK/NATIONAL NIGHT OUT
The first Tuesday of August is National Night Out and the city of Lewisville will host a Family Concert in the Park . The nationwide program is used to heighten crime prevention awareness and encourage community participation. Come out an join the neighborhood camaraderie at Memorial Park Recreation Center (1950B S. Valley Parkway, Lewisville, TX 75067)

The Lewisville Police Department and the Lewisville Fire Department will be on site to help promote community awareness and participation. Neighborhoods are encouraged to come together in the park to enjoy the musical festivities, featuring the sounds of the renowned Southern Soul Blues recording artist:” L.J. Echols.” Dallas own jazz phenomenon “Natural Bridge” will also perform. Visit food, health, crime prevention vendors, and enjoy the community camaraderie. This will definitely be an evening of public awareness. Do you know you neighbors? Stroll on over with your families and your lawn chairs and find your spot early. No registration required. Join the Flower Mound Library Tuesday evenings in July for fun family movies. The movies will be held at 7 p.m. on July 10, 17, 24, and 31. Free popcorn and lemonade will be provided. All ages are welcome, and all movies are rated G or PG. Call the library at 972.874.6200 for movie titles. Tickets are not required. And of course, PJs and pillows are welcome!
