We all know of “Wierd Al” Yankovic. His musical satire is focused on his ability to take hits of the day, whatever that day is, and turn them into his own comedic parody. My first memory was his sing “I Love Rocky Road“, a parody of I Love Rock and Roll by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts. His song actually reached the top 40 charts back in 1979. Then there was “Eat It” in 1984 based on Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” to which he also created a hilarious music video. That one reached #12 on the Billboard Hot 100. Extending his success across almost 30 years, his “White & Nerdy” peaked at #9 in late 2006.
I recently had a close friend share a new parody by Yankovic while mentioning knowing people that this song described perfectly! He may be on the way to a hit again with “Ebay“, a Parody of “I Want It That Way” by The Backstreet Boys. He plays on a popular activity these days-an addition to the excitement at purchasing items at auction on Ebay. Here it is for you.
