What Does CCleaner Do?
It cleans the junk your PC accumulates from usage, ie the crap! If a computer has been used for a year or so, you can be confident it will clean up about a GIG of junk in a single run. That used to be an entire hard drive just a few years ago! Gigabytes! In daily use, a computer collects a lot of useless files.
Every image you see while running Internet Explorer or Firefox gets saved in a Temporary Internet Files folder. Every cookie. The URL of every google search. The history of every web site you have visited. Lots and lots of useless ’stuff’. CCleaner cleans that all out safely.
CCleaner will successfuly empty all those junk files that accumulate from using the Internet, installing programs, or that just sit in your Recycle Bin. You may say, “I run Disk Cleanup” and it does the same thing. Yes - but CCleaner does that and then some. Think of Disk Cleanup on steroids. It also has a useful Registry Cleaner to remove all those broken links to programs long deleted. And it has a Uninstall program to help you remove those old unwanted programs that is more efficient that the one in Windows…again, it gets the junk files often left over from a bad installation.
There are other options in CCleaner you will want to check out that are very useful, such as seeing and removing programs from your system startup that also may be slowing your PC down. You may be amazed at what is running on your PC that you have no knowledge of.
