In first reports by Mac Holenberger, Argyle Fire Chief, she flew over her bicycle handlebars and hit a piece of steel on the trailer, puncturing her skull. After further investigation, the latest update is that she was riding her bicycle on a neighborhood street with friends when she ran into the rebar protruding from the back of a trailer. Rebar is commonly used to reinforce concrete.
She was transported by helicopter to Children’s Medical Center where she remains in critical condition on Tuesday. Details of the accident were limited, Chief Hohenberger said, adding that it was not known whether she was wearing a helmet or why she hit the trailer.
