Yep, the premier football game of the year (sorry Superbowl), will take place Saturday at 2:30pm in the Cotton Bowl at Fair Park. While the rest of the country may think the game has lost its lustre with losses by both teams last week, the rivalry is still there and face it America, both teams are still ranked in the top 20!
Losses are not the only controversy surrounding the teams. For Texas, 11 Players have been arrested since UT won their National Championship. Most of them since June of 2007. The ones that Mack suspended temporarily, conveniently will be back on the team in time for the OU-Texas game. Notice that the list is nearly all defensive players.
Some are saying that the two teams are the most evenly matched they have been in years. Texas won 2 years ago with Vince Young, arguably the best QB in college football and the sooners had freshman Rhett Bomar. Last year, the Sooners were forced to replace Bomar after violations, moving up their Wide Receiver, but still managed to lead at half time against the better Texas team. For 2007, the Longhorn defensive secondary may be its weakest in a while and the offensive line isn’t doing too well either, but Texas still has a great Quarterback with McCoy. Oklahoma introduces us to Sam Bradford, a Freshman, as Quarterback who has been outstanding up until last week, but they also have a pretty stoug offensive line, good wide receivers and secondary.
We’ll leave speculation on the best team to y’all, and get on to the party!
There will be numerous parties and celebrations before and after the game.
On Friday night in the new Victory Park, by American Airlines Center, on Friday evening from 5-11pm, WFAA, The Dallas Stars will celebrate NHL opening night and, strangely enough, the biggest outdoor OU/Texas celebration in Dallas.
Activities include Fan Zam, Mini-Zam, Slap Shot Cage and more! Enjoy drinks, food and TX/OU highlights on the large Victory Park Video Screens. Watch Dale Hanson talk OU/Texas and enjoy live performances by “No Justice” at 6 and 10pm.
