New FM Town Center Plans Announced

Longtime resident, homebuilder and Parker Square developer Cole McDowell unveiled plans for a “down-town” Flower Mound this week.  Encompassing a whopping 158 acres on the north side of FM 1171 (Cross Timbers) and between Fm 2499 and Morriss Road, this large parcel of land has a lot to offer and McDowell has big plans.

Plans include a River Walk of roughly 2/3 miles, a hospital, 40 acres of parks and an open plaza design with an Italian theme.  McDowell’s goal is to create an setting that will be as architecturally innovative a 100 years from now as it is today.  There will be plenty of tree-lined sidewalks, outside dining areas, trails, restaurants, retail and office buildings.

They have signed contracts with a hospital and have plans for an upscale grocery store as well as two hotels on the property.  Also planned are two-three story townhomes, and a 10-story condominium building located in the center of the development accounting for approximately 1,800 residential units.

McDowell is hosting a naming contest for the proposed development.  Submitting the winning name is good for a $200 gift certificate to Capriccio Ristorante in Parker Square for dinner.  Email your suggestions to forums (at) parkersquare (dot) com before December 1, 2007!
