Truck Fire In Lake Dallas shuts down I-35 for Miles…& Miles

When we first received this photo taken from the north side of Flower Mound early this afternoon, we didn’t know what it was, but as the day progressed, it became quite evident.

A large truck hauling gasoline crashed and exploded shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 35E in Lake Dallas, shutting down the highway in both directions between Lewisville and Denton. Texas Troopers said the bobtail truck driver apparently hit the brakes abruptly when he saw that the northbound traffic ahead of him had suddenly slowed down. He lost control of the truck, which belongs to Taylor Oil of Fort Worth, overturned across a median wall and burst into flames.

Traffic through Flower Mound on FM1171 and FM2499 was extremely packed as of 8:30pm this evening as vehicles were being encouraged to exit and travel west before arriving at Lake Lewisville.

The first picture was taken near FM407 and Morris Road.
