Adiyl Mir, 17, a Flower Mound High School student, was killed in a one-car accident Sunday night, Jan 20, 2008 at the corner of Freeport Parkway and Patriot Drive in Grapevine. A candlelight vigil was held Tuesday night at FM High School.
It was reported that Mir was on the way to a Movie. According to friends, Adiyl always had a smile on his face, and he was willing to do what was expected of him. Lots of kids looked up to him because of his strong character. He had a solid foundation to him.”
Sgt. Kim Smith, a spokesperson for the Grapevine Police Department, said alcohol and drugs are not being investigated. “We’re looking at speed as a possible factor,” Smith said. “We’re still in the early stages of the investigation, so the exact speed hasn’t been determined.”
According to Grapevine police, Mir, 17, was traveling east on Freeport when his vehicle hit a tree and careened a building. Police responded to a call at 11:49 p.m. No one else was in the car.
