No, we’re not talking about New York City!
What started as a dream is beginning to take shape…on paper at least, as planners work with Flower Mound city officials to design what is being promoted as Flower Mound’s 21st Century downtown.
Integrating commercial and residential uses within the 158-acre development the project is located north of FM 1171 between FM 2499 and Morriss Road. With an admiral goal, The River Walk is intended to capture the old fashioned spirit of downtowns we remember from our youth and visual images of Americana.
Commercial uses within the development will include medical, office, retail, and dining. Many of the buildings will accommodate street-fronting shops and restaurants with offices and residences located on upper floors. Residential uses in the development will include a variety of living choices including townhouse, apartment, condominium, lofts over retail and office, assisted living, and senior living.
Taking advantage of the lakes already on the property, the River Walk Park will be a focal point for Flower Mound. Its design will allow and encourage people to work and live in close proximity and will provide a pedestrian oriented environment. At the center of the development, Central Park, a spacious, crescent-shaped public park, will provide a gathering space for community events.
