FMFD vs. FMPD–Battle for the Diamond, Sept 20, 2008, 5PM

The 5th annual Battle for the Diamond softball game between the Flower Mound Police and Fire Departments is scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 2008 at Gerault Park.  Pregame activities begin at 5 p.m. with the first pitch at 6 p.m. The first pitch will be thrown out by Police Officer Kevin Schmidt, a nine-year veteran of the Police Department who received near fatal injuries while on traffic patrol July 25, 2007.

Retired major league pitcher John Wetteland (Rangers 1997-2000, NY Yankees 1995-1996, MVP 1996 World Series with 4 saves, Montreal 1992-1994, LA Dodgers 1989-1991) will be available to sign autographs and visit with fans.

Displays of fire and police equipment will be set up in the parking lot for fans to view, and gate prizes will be awarded between innings. Tickets are $5 for ages six and over (five and under are free).  For purchase information, visit www.fmcpaaa.org . Tickets will also available at the gate on game day. Concessions will be available at the park as well.

The community event is sponsored by the Flower Mound Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association along with area businesses. Proceeds will benefit the Flower Mound Police and Fire departments.
