The Flower Mound Fire Department will host an Open House from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 10 at Central Fire Station, 3838 Forums Drive. The fun-filled event will include a S.A.F.E Team presentation, a CareFlight helicopter, children’s activities, the fire safety trailer, fire station tours, fire safety information, displays of fire engines and ambulances, a CERT team demonstration, and plenty of hot dogs, popcorn, and soft drinks. Carrollton Santa Fe Days, 10/10-10/11/09

Carrollton Santa Fe Days on the Square started in 2004 and has transitioned into an annual event with the purpose of education regarding the culture of the Native American community through the wonderful and unique artisans and culturally diverse food.

Visitors will have the opportunity to experience traditional Native American songs as preformed by world renowned drum Bear Claw. There will also be demonstrations of a number of time honored art forms such as pottery and jewelry making.

There will also be a special guest dance troupe, Evelio Flores and the Aztec Dancers and a variety of talented Championship Dancers.

Southlake Oktoberfest, 10/9-10/11/09

It’s sometimes hard to find a good Texas Oktoberfest in October, but here’s one worth checking out.

This year will mark the eighth annual Oktoberfest celebration hosted by Southlake’s Chamber of Commerce! Nearly 50,000 people visit throughout the weekend festival! To attend this event isn’t going to cost you a thing…even the parking is free! This is excluding food and beverages, and booth items.

Come take a stroll in Southlake’s beautiful Town Square while looking at the unique, handcrafted arts and crafts booths. Great food, and live entertainment are also at your fingertips during this fun-filled event. The kids will have a great time in the excitement-packed children’s area!

Don’t forget to sign up your dog to participate in the popular wiener dog race! There will of course be a number of great bands that you won’t want to miss! Click here for the entertainment schedule and more information.

Cross Timbers Artists Guild Studio Tour/Reception

The Cross Timbers Artists’ Guild will host the 8th annual Artists’ Studio Tour on Saturday, November 7th (10am – 5pm) and Sunday, November 8th (Noon – 5pm) 2009.  The opening reception will be Friday, November 6th (7pm – 9pm) at the NEW Cross Timbers Artists’ Guild Gallery in the Shops at Highland Village, N/W corner of FM 2499 & Hwy 407 (next to James Avery).  Public Welcome.

This year, local artists will be joined by new artists who live and create original works of art in the Cross Timbers area of North Texas.  A wide array of media are represented, including: ceramics, mosaics, photography, paintings in oils, acrylics, watercolor, and collage, hand made books, quilts, woven fabrics, blown glass, custom furniture, wood workers, stained glass, metal sculptures, and much more.
